Michael Bondanza descends from a long line of artisans. His family traces its roots to Pietrosanta, Italy, known for the marble quarries favored by sculptors. As a boy, he liked painting and sculpting and later experimented with jewelry. After receiving a degree in Fine Arts, Michael taught himself the techniques of jewelry making and began designing jewelry for his friends. He attracted the attention of several of the prominent jewelers on Fifth Avenue, including Cartier and began selling to them. His popularity rose quickly with his original, bold and imaginative custom jewelry. He is best known for complex combinations using platinum as his ‘canvas’ and interweaving it with high karat gold and diamonds.
With his business based in New York City, he heads outdoors to mountain bike and climb rocks. These are clues that this master artist has an eye for beauty and a desire for adventure; wonderful qualities for producing unique, free-spirited, bold jewelry and works of art. You will find Michael working at his bench during the day and sculpting or painting at night. Michael Bondanza has a passion for both art and jewelry, concepts that he considers one and the same. McCaskill & Company is well suited as a venue for Michael’s designs where jewelry is shown as art.
