A self-taught artisan, his work has a timeless sophistication that caters to a discerning clientele. He chose platinum not only as a setting for stones, but also explored its potential as a medium in its own right. The versatile use of metal and diamonds adds an aura of drama and substance. Attention to detail and superior workmanship are both hallmarks of his designs, evident in his Fashion and Bridal collections.

Over the years, Michael has achieved international recognition for his creative use of platinum, and his designs have won him acclaim amongst the designer and retail communities. His platinum and gold statement bracelets are signature pieces and these stunning designs have inspired a dedicated following. Among his numerous awards in fine jewelry is the Triple Zero Award from the American Gem Society. Michael’s innate ability to create timeless jewelry is evident in each one of his designs. Yet, he continues to perfect his craft and can often be found at his bench implementing new ideas and experimenting with new techniques. In addition to his hand crafted design approach, he has also incorporated modern innovations such as CAD into his work.

Michael Bondanza’s jewelry is continually evolving but always reflects the Bondanza aesthetic and an unparalleled level of artistry.

Michael Bondanza descends from a long line of artisans. His family traces its roots to Pietrosanta, Italy, known for the marble quarries favored by sculptors. As a boy, he liked painting and sculpting and later experimented with jewelry. After receiving a degree in Fine Arts, Michael taught himself the techniques of jewelry making and began designing jewelry for his friends. He attracted the attention of several of the prominent jewelers on Fifth Avenue, including Cartier and began selling to them. His popularity rose quickly with his original, bold and imaginative custom jewelry. He is best known for complex combinations using platinum as his ‘canvas’ and interweaving it with high karat gold and diamonds.
